The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has been petitioned to probe deputy Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye and Samuel Abu Jinapor, over corruption claims made against them.
A group that calls itself Dynamic Youth Movement of Ghana (DYMOG) thinks the corruption allegations by popular musician, Kwame A-Plus, and the subsequent revelations that the police, which investigated the matter, may have covered up for the two presidential staffers, demands that CHRAJ takes up the matter.
"It has become necessary for your outfit to trigger [an] investigation into the said matter following a leaked tape which captures a dialogue during the investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service. The leaked tape was a phone conversation between Mr. Kwame Asare (A Plus) and an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mrs Tiwaa Addo - Danquah.
"DYMOG is of the firm [belief] that, the emergence of the leaked tape has made it necessary for an independent body to conduct full fledge investigations into this matter because, a. The Credibility of the Ghana Police Service is in possible tatters so far as the emergence of this tape is concerned.
"b. Secondly, the authenticity of the final investigation report released earlier by the CID, which cleared Mr. Asenso Boakye and Mr. Abu Jinapor is in a state of immense and intense incredulity," DYMOG said in the petition. A-Plus protest
The Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service last week described as baseless, a claim of corruption against the deputy Chiefs of Staff by popular musician Kwame Asare Obeng also known as A-Plus.
Snr Martin Ameyaw responded:
Kwame A-Plus. If you want God to bless you, that is certainly not the way to go. Jealousy, greed, propaganda and insults can never take you higher in politics and in NPP government.
Let me remind you that you have joined the NPP, a party that one can only succeed with good morals, hard work, good educational background and the character of being humble etc.
Chief Francis Asenso-Boakye has come a very long way serving the NPP and President Akufo-Addo.
1. Where were you in the suffering days? I mean from 2008 to 2015.
2. Do you know what it takes to stay close to the President at this crucial moment when 1000s of people are seeking for political appointment from the President?
3. Do you know what it takes to govern a country?
4. Do you know what it takes to become a Founding President of an intellectual organization (TESCON)? Not to mention even an ordinary TESCON President. I will encourage you to go to the various tertiary institution campuses to inquire about the struggle and the effort put in to emerge as a President of TESCON. Does not all, do you know what it takes to become successful as a TESCON Boss in office?
Kwame, I will suggest you shut up your mouth and continue to stay close to Sammi Awuku and his deputy Dominic Padua and learn more about politics and the NPP.
God Bless Hon. Chief Francis Asenso-Boakye (Founding President of TESCON, Deputy Chief of Staff and Political Assistant to the President, Republic of Ghana).
God Bless TESCON and the NPP.
Author: Snr. Martin AMEYAW, former TESCON President.
Safo Kwaning also had this to say:
A-Plus is a shameless opportunist. He is always looking for favours from big men. If he doesn’t get his way around you, then he goes blackmailing you. Ghanaians will get to know him. I pray Mr Asenso-Boakye and Mr Abu Jinapor will not respond to him. He doesn’t deserve their energy!
A-Plus doesn’t deserve our time and attention. It appears he feeds on constant attacks and vilification of very noble people of our society.
The earlier he realizes that he has no control in the scheme of affairs, the better for him. He comes no where close to any appointee of this government, including our two deputies to the chief of staff. Indeed, A-Plus is not bigger than any polling station executive of the NPP.
Our deputies to the chief of staff are very noble young men who have had very successful careers in their private lives before taking public offices. They are among the many dynamic young men and women who work tirelessly to ensure that the President achieves his vision. They have no time for trivialities. Members of the party are very happy to have them in office. They are easily accessible! They are dependable! They are men with integrity!
We won’t join him in the gutters because that seem to be his comfort zone, since he has no credibility to his name!
One of the deputies he directly insulted, Francis Asenso-Boakye, took to Facebook handle to give him a diplomatic response:
Dear Kwame A Plus,
I have read with bemusement your infantile and opprobrious rants against my colleague and I, and which also seeks to question the judgement of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. This is quite regrettable given your avowed support for Nana Akufo-Addo’s vision and commitment to accelerate the development of Ghana. We have work to do and in a hurry to alleviate the debilitating poverty that demeans our people. I genuinely expect all who profess to have the interest of Ghanaians at heart to dedicate themselves to the cause rather than engage in trivialities and attention seeking stunts.
As you may have noticed in my limited interactions with you, the attainment of Akufo-Addo’s vision remains a cardinal priority and paramount consideration in my dealings with all and sundry. I have applied myself diligently and professionally in discharging my duties both as Political Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff. My schedule in the dual capacity in which I serve His Excellency the President, affords me neither the time or luxury to be planning elaborate schemes to fleece the good people of Ghana who have graciously given us a sacred mandate.
Like you, many people contributed to our resounding electoral victory and remain eager to assist the government achieve its transformation agenda by building a resilient economy that provides fair and equitable opportunities for all. Yet, i must say that it is not everyone who has developed a nauseating sense of entitlement as you unfortunately have. It’s a shame that you would sheepishly use your social media platform and following to seek to besmirch my image and reputation simply to score some measure of revenge for my inability to accede to your request.
I have endeavoured, in my social and political life, to treat everyone with whom I have had the privilege of meeting, big or small, famous or not, with the utmost respect and reverence.
May I reiterate to you, as I did in April, that I will not be intimidated by your vile attacks on my person or held to ransom. You have enormous potential; please harness it more productively. I would earnestly urge you to use your time more judiciously to help move Ghana forward.
Indulging in baseless accusations and unsubstantiated claims of corruption and arrogance is beneath you and frankly discredits you in the eyes of right thinking Ghanaians. As the President noted at the just ended NPP Conference, he is willing and ready to look into any case of alleged corruption. You may kindly take up his generous offer and present your case to him.
While I have this opportunity, allow me to echo the sentiments of President J. A. Kufuor. We need matured minds in our Party and body politics. You will do well to heed the age old adage: “a word to the wise is enough”
I wish you a pleasant day
Most of the party faithfuls on Facebook seem to support the Deputy
Watch Leaked Audio-Video Tape:
Director General of the CID, COP Bright Oduro, in a statement, said the report indicated that the evidence provided by A Plus to back his claims were “baseless, unsubstantiated and lacks credibility”.
However, an audio thought to be excerpts of a conversation between A-Plus and a female investigator sought to downplay the CID report and suggested a cover-up by the police to protect the two public officials.
Meanwhile, Myjoyonline is yet to confirm if CHRAJ has received the petition.
Below is the full DYMOG petition which Myjoyonline.com has chanced upon: -------------------------------------------------- 29th September 2017. Attention: The Commissioner, Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Accra. Dear Commissioner,
PETITION TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGED CRIMES OF CORRUPTION AND THIEVERY LEVELLED AGAINST DEPUTY CHIEFS OF STAFF; MR. FRANCIS ASENSO-BOAKYE AND MR. SAMUEL ABU JINAPOR, BY KWAME ASARE OBENG (A-PLUS)
The Dynamic Youth Movement of Ghana on behalf of the teeming youth in the country writes to your highly esteemed outfit to investigate the infamous alleged crime of thievery and corruption perpetrated by the Deputy Chiefs-of-staff Mr. Asenso Boakye and Mr. Abu Jinapor. These allegations were made by Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus) a musician and a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
It has become necessary for your outfit to trigger an investigation into the said matter following a leaked tape which captures a dialogue during the investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service. The leaked tape was a phone conversation between Mr. Kwame Asare (A Plus) and an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Tiwaa Addo-Danquah.
DYMOG is of the firm [belief] that, the emergence of the leaked tape has made it necessary for an independent body to conduct full fledge investigations into this matter because, a. The Credibility of the Ghana Police Service is in possible tatters so far as the emergence of this tape is concerned.
b. Secondly, the authenticity of the final investigations report released earlier by the CID, which cleared Mr. Asenso Boakye and Mr. Abu Jinapor is in a state of immense and intense incredulity.
In the spirit of Articles 218 and 287 of the 1992 Constitution, we hereby petition CHRAJ to investigate and establish the following; 1. Whether or not the claims by Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng (A plus) are true 2. Whether or not the investigations of the CID of the Ghana Police Service on this matter is a true reflection of what transpired.
3. Whether or not the voices of Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus) and Mrs. Tiwaa Addo Danquah captured on the tape are originally theirs or not. We believe, your outfit will bring clarity and finality to this matter. DYMOG also pledges to corporate with the Commission to bring justice to this matter.
Please find attached our evidence of the voice recording on a CD ROM labeled “DYMOG EXHIBIT”. Yours faithfully, Edward Tutor.
