Christian Atsu’s Chelsea career has admittedly looked dead in the water for some time now, but he’s bound to have made Antonio Conte stand up and take notice with this beauty of a free-kick.
According to GhanaSky.com sources Metro UK, the Ghana international is into his fifth loan spell since joining the Blues back in 2013, having also spent time with Vitesse, Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga with little success to speak of.
Still, he’s improved during his time with Newcastle this season, and has shown remarkable quality and technique with this nonchalant effort away to Cardiff City this evening.
Stepping up almost effortlessly, Atsu guides the ball into the top corner with his left foot, showing just why he was rated so highly during his days as a youngster at Porto.
Given Chelsea’s options in attack, they’re unlikely to find a place for the 25-year-old any time soon, though Conte has been more ready than previous Chelsea bosses to give players a second chance.
Few would have expected Victor Moses to ever kick a ball for Chelsea again after three consecutive seasons out on loan, but a switch to wing-back under Conte this season has revived his career.
