Authorities of the Ghana Senior High School at Koforidua in the Eastern Region are considering closing down the school a day after fire completely destroyed the girls dormitory there.
The fire which begun around 7 pm on Thursday, gutted a whole block and consumed almost all belongings of the female students in the school.
It is still not clear what could have triggered the fire.
But some parents are also in the school trying to withdraw their children after at least ten of the students were reported to be traumatized and are on admission at the St.Joseph hospital in Effiduase.
“I am here to consider withdrawing my daughter since she has lost all her belongings in the fire”, a father said.
Member of Parliament for New Juaben North, Nana Agyei Boateng after a meeting with school authorities said the school might close down to re-construct the dormitory.
As a short-term measure, he indicated that the over 200 girls will be located to another dormitory until the destroyed building is refurbished.
Nana Agyei Boateng appealed for calm at they work to get things to normalcy.
