As the sun rises on a new year, Ghanaians are greeted with a modest increase in fuel prices at the pumps, marking the start of the first pricing window of 2025.

The changes, though marginal, reflect ongoing adjustments in the market.

On January 2, 2025, some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) revised their prices upwards. GOIL led the way, with petrol now priced at GH¢14.99 per litre and diesel at GH¢15.60 per litre, slightly higher than the rates in the second pricing window of December 2024, which stood at GH¢14.75 per litre for petrol and GH¢15.45 per litre for diesel.

Total Energies followed suit, raising its petrol price from GH¢15.30 per litre to GH¢15.50 per litre. Diesel prices also saw a minor increase, moving from GH¢15.80 per litre to GH¢15.99 per litre.

Amid these adjustments, Star Oil remains steady, maintaining its petrol price at GH¢14.75 per litre and diesel at GH¢14.99 per litre—a reassuring consistency for its loyal customers.

According to GhanaSky.com, Shell has also made slight increases, with petrol now selling at GH¢15.30 per litre and diesel at GH¢15.66 per litre.

While these changes may feel like a small pinch at the pump, they are part of a broader landscape shaped by global market dynamics. As always, consumers are encouraged to plan their fuel needs thoughtfully as the new year unfolds.
